Friends of the Tyne Theatre & Opera House, part of the Tyne Theatre and Opera House Preservation Trust, stage a production of Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance in September 2015 with a cast and orchestra of over 60 amateur actors and musicians. This popular show is an energetic comedy interpretation of the show.

Originally built in 1867, the Tyne Theatre & Opera House is one of the oldest fully operational Victorian theatres in the UK and has been through various stages of ownership and functionality during its time. Its unique features include a beautifully lavish auditorium and intact full set of Victorian stage machinery.
