Tyne Theatre Productions is looking for dedicated and capable people to join its Committee on a voluntary basis to assist in a number of operational areas.
The Production Company has produced seven amateur shows as of April 2019 since it began raising funds for the newly independent Tyne Theatre & Opera House in 2015. All funds raised go towards the Preservation Trust to restore and preserve the beautiful theatre.
Members of the Committee play a vital role in the Company as they put time and energy as volunteers into selecting which shows to produce, organising the licence and recruiting the creative team as well as driving and supporting the production in areas such as marketing, technical set up, financial reporting and programme production and much more.
As a volunteer Committee Member we would ask you to attend regular monthly meetings during which current and future activities are planned, updated and discussed openly as a team. Committee members will sometimes choose to be more closely involved in a specific show which then leads to a bigger time commitment in the run up to show week. Most importantly is the enthusiasm and energy the Committee Members bring to contributing to the continuity and preservation of the theatre we all believe is an asset to the city and the community.
The Committee is seeking volunteers for the following areas:-
Finance & Admin – budget and actuals tracking, reporting for individual shows, making enquiries and booking of licenses, distribution and tracking of libs, sign off of expense claims and delivering hard copies of invoices and receipts to the theatre finance team.
Marketing & Publicity – updating social media content (Facebook, Twitter, website etc.), marketing planning & execution for Tyne Theatre Production shows including print distribution, co-ordination of radio and press activity, programme development, tracking of ticket sales on a weekly basis.
Community & Social Development – working on building the reputation and profile of Tyne Theatre Productions as an active community group where volunteers work together to have fun and raise funds for the theatre. Maintain and develop connections with local companies who can provide rehearsal space and organise social and community activities.
Recruitment & Casting – helping recruit volunteers from a wide range of backgrounds and with a variety of skills, making first contact with new volunteers, on-boarding them and helping to ensure that Tyne Theatre Production shows have a strong group of volunteers both front and back of house as well as on stage.
Technical – ensuring the technical delivery of shows, confirming technical requirements on specific shows and on-boarding/training volunteers on basic health and safety and operating procedures at the theatre.
Fundraising & Associated Activities – devising and leading a programme of fundraising activities for Tyne Theatre Productions; helping co-ordinate and train volunteers for the activities. Involvement in existing volunteer activities such as guided tours.
Musical & Creative Strategy – supporting the recruitment of musical volunteers, maintaining relations with the local musical community to ensure Tyne Theatre Productions works with a group of skilled musicians, dancers, and creative people. Agreeing and helping to establish the ongoing creative strategy of the company.
General committee members who are keen to be involved as a volunteer in a non-specific area are also very welcome.
If you are interested to know more please send an expression of interest and either a CV or a few lines telling us about yourself and the skills and experience you would bring to the Company in any of the above areas. You can either send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org or post off your details to Tyne Theatre Productions c/o Tyne Theatre & Opera House, Westgate Road, Newcastle upon Tyne.
